Amache Cemetery

Established between 1942 and 1945 when the area was Granada War Relocation Center, the cemetery includes 11 grave plots, ten with markers and one without. According to WRA records, 106 deaths occurred at Amache, although many remains were voluntarily removed after Amache’s closure in 1945.

A fenced in area approximately 0.4 acres in size. The area is surrounded by pinion pines. Inside the fence, there are two benches next to a memorial that pays tribute to the people incarcerated at Amache. To the left of the memorial are seven low-profile headstones of people who are still buried there. On the far right towards the front gate, there is a small brick building that holds another memorial to the people incarcerated at Amache.

The Amache Musuem is located in Granada, CO and operated by the Amache Preservation Society.
