Castle Williams

Built in 1811 to defend New York against foreign navies, Castle Williams would later play a role in defending the nation against domestic enemies. Castle Williams never heard a shot fired in anger, but it was used for training and organizing troops who would take the war to the Confederacy, and housed hundreds of Confederate prisoners within its massive walls.
