Restroom Closures at Greenbelt Park
Restrooms at the Laurel and Holly Picnic Areas will be closed April 15–November 15, 2025, and remain closed afterward per the Superintendent’s Compendium schedule.
South Parking Lot of Greenbelt Park Closed to Vehicle Access
This area will be closed to vehicle access from 12:00 a.m. May 9, 2025, and continuing until September 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. The area will remain available to pedestrians.
Greenbelt Park Campground has Site Specific Reservations through Recreation.gov.
The park features a 172 site campground and is open year round. The campground is known for its affordability, safety, peaceful surroundings, and National Park Service hospitality. Campers must pay for sites via the online reservation system.
1.2 mile trail that meanders through the forest of Greenbelt Park. The trail is eight feet across and the ground is dirt with occasional packed stone. Along the 1.2 miles, you will see Still Creek on your right from the 0.2 to 0.4 mile markers. Along the trail, you have the possibility of white tailed deer, woodpeckers, squirrels, and other forest animals.Greenbelt Park is located in suburban Maryland so there is no chance to see any bears.
Dogwood trail is located along Park Central Road in Greenbelt Park.

Laurel reserved picnic area. When entering the park, proceed to the stop sign. Make a left turn, pass the Holly picnic area and Laurel picnic entrance will be on your right hand side. The Laurel picnic area can accomodate up to 200 people. There are 99 parking spaces. There are picnic tables and restrooms. A Recreation Fee is charged according to the number of particpants:

Along the 5.3 miles, you will see the roads that surround the park : Greenbelt Road, Interstate 95, the Baltimore Washington Parkway and Kenilworth Avenue. You will also see parts of Still Creek, cross over a couple of wooden bridges and end up at the entrance of the park. Along the trail, you have the possibility of white tailed deer, woodpeckers, squirrels, and other forest animals.Greenbelt Park is located in suburban Maryland so there is no chance to see any bears.
Sweetgum Picnic Area is a first-come first serve picnic area. There is a set of playground equipment along with twelve recycled plastic picnic tables in the northern portion and a set of playground equipment along with twelve recycled plastic picnic tables in the southern end of the picnic area, In the half acre of field, there is open space surrounded by forested trees There is a asphalt roadway with 99 parking spaces in the picnic area.
Large building that houses the United States Park Police. A large parking lot is in front of the building for police vehicles and vsiitors to the building.

Perimeter Trail 5.2 miles
Park in the Sweetgum Picnic Area, pick up a park brochure (with trail maps and descriptions included in the brochure) and enjoy a 5.2 mile walk through Greenbelt Park. If walking, the Perimeter trail can be accessed at the park entrance.
Dogwood Trail 1.6 miles

Azalea Trail 1.2 miles
Walk the Azalea Trail through the forest of Greenbelt Park. (1.2 miles) Park across the street , pick up a park brochure (with trail maps and descriptions included in the brochure) enjoy a 1.2 mile walk.

Greenbelt Park campground is located in Greenbelt Park, Maryland. Our entrance is at 6565 Greenbelt Road in Greenbelt, Maryland. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov $20 per campsite.
