Harmony Hall

The 18th century Harmony Hall mansion is located on a 62.5-acre open pasture land estate along the Potomac River. This estate was purchased by the National Park Service in 1966, to preserve southern Maryland cultural heritage. Surrounded by a rich landscape, it offers visitors many chances to connect with Colonial History. The park also home to the remains of the Want Water House and canal.

  • Harmony Hall is a two and a half story brick Manor House with two small extensions. It measures 83 ft wide and 22 ft deep. it is composed of a large rectangular colonial style house with two one-story editions on the left side. The front of the house has eight windows on the first floor seven on the second floor and five on the roof. The house has three large chimneys. A triangular gable on the front of the house holds a oval decorative window. Directly underneath there is a column small porch which borders the bright red double doors. The leftmost addition also has a small column to porch with a smaller red door. The house has a large yard which is fenced and bordered by cedar trees. The back of the house mirrors the front without the porches. The house overlooks the Potomac River.

Want Water Ruins

  • The ruins of want water consist of two brick chimneys and portions of the side of a one and a half story house that would have been about 40 ft wide. The ruins are surrounded by a fence approximately 50 ft by 100 ft and the interior is completely overgrown with shrubs and grasses.
