Park Wide Caution
Visitors should exercise caution when hiking areas of the park that have opened since Hurricane Helene. Hazards on trails and in forested areas such as hanging tree limbs, debris on the ground, and washed-out sections of trails and bridges are possible.

An equestrian bridge on the north side of the park is also closed. All other equestrian trails are open.
Trail update 1/24/2025
Most trails are open and ready for the public. Those that remain closed are the Charleston Road/ Goudey Trail past the Cherokee Path and the portion of Cherokee Path between the stockade fort and the Charleston Road.
Settlers struggled against the harsh backcountry to survive. Cherokee Indians hunted and fought to keep their land. Two towns and a trading post were formed then abandoned to the elements. And two Revolutionary War battles claimed over 100 lives....
At the park's store books, media, educational games, and other items are for retail sale that will complement the interpretive themes of the park.
As you enter through the glass double doors of the visitor center you also enter the park's store. Ahead of you is a U-shaped desk where you can pick up a park brochure, talk to a ranger or volunteer, and purchase store items. on the right and left are shelves of books and displays of educational toys, media, and other sale items.
Star Fort Pond is a small lake located on the backside of Ninety Six National Historic Site.
A small lake formed by an earthen dam. On the lower half of the body of water is open field with small trees planted to provide shade for those fishing. The upper half is wooded with a foot path leading to areas around the waters edge. Often many birds are found either on the water or on the water's edge.
Open Wednesday-Sunday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, closed Monday and Tuesday. Museum contains a reproduction 3-pounder cannon, artifacts found on the battlefield, and other exhibits. "Ninety Six: Crossroads" is a 22-minute video shown on request. Sales Outlet operated by America's National Parks offers books, postcards, and theme-related souvenirs.
