Victorian Park Closure

On April 28, the main lawn will be fenced off for an irrigation upgrade. The grass and walkways will not be accessible for 240 days. On May 5, grassy areas between the east bleachers and Beach St will also be fenced off. Walkways will remain open.

Hyde Street Pier Closure

Hyde Street Pier and access to historic ships will be closed to public until further notice starting 11/04/2024 in preparation for Hyde Street Pier renovation work.

Municipal Pier Permanent Closure

Municipal Pier is closed permanently. After a safety review with the U.S. Public Health Service, it was determined that the deterioration of Municipal Pier in Aquatic Park Cove is unsafe for public use.

Sick Birds and Wildlife, H5N1

Be cautious around sea lions, and dead or sick birds. If you get “bombed” by a bird, wash with soap and water immediately, monitor for signs of illness, and call your doctor. Report beached, sick or distressed wildlife to Wildlife Mortality Reporting.

San Francisco Maritime Museum

Housed in a Works Progress Administration building originally designed as a bathhouse, the Maritime Museum features exhibits on navigation, naval history, ships and more. The museum is free, and open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm

  • A large white building designed in the Streamline Moderne style, with curved lines and large glass windows meant to resemble an ocean liner ship. The building stands at the edge of the sandy beach of Aquatic Park cove, near Ghirardelli Square.

San Francisco Maritime, Hyde Street Pier

Open daily, 9:30am-5:00pm (last entry 4:30pm) Hyde Street Pier features an outdoor exhibit on naval history as well as several historical ships docked in the harbor including the square-rigger Balclutha, the lumber schooner, C.A. Thayer, the Eureka ferryboat, the steam tug, Hercules, and the scow schooner, Alma.

Maritime Museum

  • The Maritime Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The museum is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Days. There is no admission fee.

San Francisco Maritime Visitor Center

  • San Francisco Maritime Visitor Center
  • In the San Francisco Maritime Visitor Center, National Park Service staff and volunteers are available to answer questions and provide information. Watch the park film and visit “The Waterfront” exhibit, an interactive walk through six historical waterfront neighborhoods.

  • While in the park, younger visitors can pick up a free Junior Ranger Program activity booklet at three contact stations: the Visitor Center, Maritime Museum, or the Ticket Booth on Hyde Street Pier.
